Baltimore, MD – On the strength of two goals from sophomore Izzie Suazo (Brooklyn, NY), the Goucher women's soccer team shut out the Gators of Notre Dame of Maryland University, 3-0, today at Alumnae Field.
Suazo staked the Gophers to a 1-0 lead at the 26:14 mark of the first half when she scored her fifth goal of the season after dribbling down the left side of the Gator defense. First-year goalkeeper Erica Bulzomi (Syosset, NY) had three saves in each half and kept the Gators off the board in the first 45:00 minutes to allow the Gophers to enter the half up 1-0.
In the second half, junior midfielder Christina Yarrish (Hummelstown, PA) assisted on a goal scored by junior Camryn Mackey (Washington, DC) at 53:09 to put the Gophers up 2-0. Heading into the final ten minutes of the game still in control at 2-0 it was the playmaker Yarrish in action again who led Suazo perfectly on a fast break at 81:46 to complete the game's scoring.
