Gophers Blank Neumann 2-0

TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College women's soccer team got a goal in each half as it shutout visiting Neumann University 2-0 in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon at Beldon Field.
- Goucher (4-4) generated four corner kicks in the first 15 minutes of the game.
- Emma Yakim (Bel Air, Md. / Bel Air) and Claudia Roller (Tucson, Ariz. / Sahuaro) put a pair of shots on goal midway through the half but both were stopped by Neumann (3-5) goalie Lee Macrina.
- Arianna Carman (Woolwich, N.J. / Kingsway) gave the Gophers a 1-0 lead with just over 15 minutes to play in the opening stanza off an assist from Taylor Urie (Simi Valley, Calif. / Simi Valley).
- Goucher sent two more shots wide in the remainder of the period as the hosts held the Knights without a shot in the opening 45 minutes.
- Neumann had its first shot of the game just over two minutes in but sent it wide.
- Urie made it a 2-0 game with just over 35 minutes left when she put home a ball that went off a Neumann defender following a corner kick.
- Yakim put a shot on goal in the 69th minute that was stopped by Macrina.
- Lexi Concklin had a shot on goal for Neumann with just under 12 minutes left, forcing Goucher keeper Jenna Abaza (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) to make her first save of the contest.
- Goucher held a 15-2 shot advantage on the afternoon.
- Abaza made the one save en route to her second shutout of the season, while Macrina made three saves for the Knights.
- Carman's goal ties her for the team lead with Yakim with three on the season, while it was Urie's second goal of the campaign.
- Goucher's 15 shots were its third-highest total of the season.
- The Gophers took all eight of the game's corner kicks.

- Goucher returns to Landmark Conference action Saturday, October 2, when it travels to Moravian for a 1 pm kickoff.
- The Gophers return home next Wednesday, October 6, hosting Rutgers-Camden at 7 pm at Beldon Field.
