TOWSON, Md. - No. 22 Scranton jumped out to a 3-0 halftime lead and remained unbeaten with a 4-0 Landmark Conference women's soccer win over Goucher College Saturday afternoon at Beldon Field.
- Scranton (11-0, 3-0 Landmark) put its first shot on goal in the eighth minute that was stopped by Goucher (4-7, 0-3) goalie Jenna Abaza (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West).
- Abaza made another save on a header bid just shy of the 20-minute mark.
- With a little over 20 minutes to go until halftime, the Royals took a 1-0 lead on a Mary Haggerty goal.
- At 26:56, Scranton made it 2-0 on a Emily Bannon tally.
- The guests were awarded a penalty kick with 49 seconds left before halftime which was converted to make it 3-0 at intermission.
- Elliott scored her second goal of the game 3:32 into the second half to make it 4-0.
- Abaza made her fourth save of the game with just over 31 minutes left.
- Carly Stevens (Hampstead, Md. / Hereford) pushed a shot high for the Gophers with 13 minutes to go.
- Jordyn Arecheiga (Vista, Calif. / Vista) played the final 16:30 in goal for Goucher.
- Scranton had 23 of the game's 24 shots and held a 16-1 advantage in corner kicks.
- Abaza made four saves before giving way to Arecheiga, who made one stop.
- The Royals posted their fourth shutout in a row and ninth of the season.
- The Gophers are on the road for their next two games, traveling to Catholic on Wednesday, October 13 and Drew on Saturday, October 16.
- Goucher returns home on Saturday, October 23, hosting Juniata at Beldon Field at 1 pm.
