SCRANTON, Pa. - The host University of Scranton women's soccer team scored twice in the game's first 5:40 en route to a 4-0 victory over Goucher College in Landmark Conference action Saturday afternoon at Weiss Field.
- Scranton (7-2-1, 2-0 Landmark) scored on the first shot of the game 3:57 in, a goal by Niamh Healy.
- The Royals added to the lead 1:43 later as Emily Bannon scored.
- Goucher (6-3, 0-2) got its first shot of the game in the 11th minute as Carly Stevens (Hampstead, Md./Hereford) had a shot saved by Royal keeper Nicole Olson.
- Gopher goalie Marissa Spacht (Marlton, Pa./Garden Spot) made a save on a shot by Healy just shy of the 17-minute mark.
- Healy made it 3-0 with her goal just shy of halfway in the period.
- Arianna Carman (Woolwich, N.J./Kingsway) put a shot on frame that was saved by Olson eight minutes before intermission.
- Mary Haggerty made it 4-0 in favor of the hosts 2:37 into the second half.
- The Royals had three more shots in the half, all of which did not force Spacht to make a save.
- Scranton held a 13-3 shot advantage and took five of the game's six corner kicks.
- Spacht and Olson each made two saves, with Olson relieved in the 65th minute by Dana Ogilvie, who was not forced to make a save.
- Scranton is ranked No. 6 in this week's United Soccer Coaches Region V Division III ranking.
- Goucher travels to Rutgers-Camden on Wednesday afternoon for a 4:30 non-conference tilt.
