Gophers, Cardinals Battle to Scoreless Draw

TOWSON, Md. - Goucher College and Catholic University battled to a 0-0 tie in Landmark Conference women's soccer Wednesday evening at Beldon Field. The Gophers recorded their seventh shutout of the season with the clean sheet.
- Catholic (2-6-4, 1-1-2 Landmark) had the first two shots of the game on target just over a minute apart in the 18th minute, with Goucher (7-4-1, 0-3-1) goalie Marissa Spacht (Marlton, Pa./Garden Spot) making a pair of saves.
- Spact stopped another shot in the 24th minute.
- The Gophers' Taylor Urie (Simi Valley, Calif./Simi Valley) had a shot with just under 19 minutes left in the half that was stopped by Cardinal keeper Ava Rieger.
- Spacht made one more first half save with 11:20 left before halftime.
- Catholic generated a corner kick in the opening minute of the second half but had a shot go wide.
- Spacht punched a header bid by Katarina Bauer over the crossbar at the 62:23 mark.
- With just over 15 minutes left Rieger made a save on a shot by Taty Jimenez (Modesto, Calif./Enochs).
- Jimenez had another bid saved by Rieger with just over eight minutes left.
- Catholic held a 9-7 edge in shots and took 12 corner kicks to Goucher's four.
- Spacht made five saves en route to her seventh shutout of the season, while Rieger recorded three stops.
- Spacht's seven shutouts are the second-highest single-season total in program history, one behind the school record of eight set by Juliana Harkavy in 2013.
- Goucher's tie was its first since a 0-0 tie with Juniata on October 6, 2018, a span of 50 games.
- Goucher travels to Juniata for a Landmark Conference contest on Saturday at 4 pm.
- The Gophers return home on Tuesday, October 25, hosting Lancaster Bible in a 7 pm contest at Beldon Field.
