Spacht Ties Shutout Record in Draw at Juniata

HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Goucher College women's soccer junior goalkeeper Marissa Spacht (Marlton, Pa./Garden Spot) tied the program's single-season record for shutouts with her eighth of the season as the Gophers forged a 0-0 tie with Juniata College in Landmark Conference play Saturday afternoon.
- Juniata (2-9-4, 0-4-1 Landmark) had the game's first shot that went wide three minutes in.
- Goucher's (7-4-2, 0-3-2) Taylor Urie (Simi Valley, Calif./Simi Valley) put a shot on goal in the 14th minute that was saved by Eagle goalie Avery Zales.
- Carly Stevens (Hampstead, Md./Hereford) put a header on frame in the 21st minute that was stopped by a Juniata defender.
- Stevens sent a shot high off the ensuing corner kick.
- Spacht had a save with just over three minutes remaining in the half.
- Juniata had a shot blocked 10 minutes into the second half.
- Stevens had a pair of shots go wide two minutes apart with 25 minutes to go.
- In the 83rd minute Stevens put a free kick on goal that was handled by Zales.
- Goucher had two shots in the final minute, with a shot by Ariana Carman (Woolwich, N.J./Kingsway) blocked and a bid by Stevens going wide.
- Goucher outshot Juniata 8-4 and had a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
- Spacht made one save en route to the shutout, while Zales made a pair of saves for her clean sheet.
- Spacht's eight shutouts tie the program record of eight in a season set by Juliana Harkavy in 2013. Harkavy is the program's leader in career shutouts with 20.
- Goucher returns to action Tuesday, traveling to Penn State Harrisburg for a 7 pm non-conference match.
- The Gophers return home Tuesday, October 25, welcoming Lancaster Bible for a 7 pm contest at Beldon Field.
