Lake Goal Sinks Gophers at Penn State Harrisburg

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - A goal by host Penn State Harrisburg with 7:01 remaining lifted the Nittany Lions to a 1-0 non-conference women's soccer victory over Goucher College Tuesday evening at Turf Field.
- Penn State Harrisburg (10-3-3) sent the game's first shot wide 1:23 into the contest.
- Goucher (7-5-2) generated a corner kick in the 11th minute.
- A shot off the corner by Taty Jimenez (Modesto, Calif./Enochs) was saved by PSH keeper Sydney Mulka.
- Gopher keeper Marissa Spacht (Marlton, Pa./Garden Spot) made her first save of the game in the 22nd minute.
- The Nittany Lions were awarded a penalty kick just past halfway but the kick was sent high.
- Spacht recorded her second save of the game nine minutes into the second half.
- At the 64-minute mark, Spacht turned aside back-to-back shot attempts by Kylee Altland and Kyla Brossoit, then a third shot went off the crossbar.
- Less than a minute later another Penn State Harrisburg shot off a restart glanced off the post.
- With just over seven minutes left Mackenzie Mowery scored to give the Nittany Lions a 1-0 lead.
- Cassidy Scott (Quakertown, Pa./William Penn Charter School) had a shot saved by Mulka with three minutes left.
- In the final minute, a bid by Arianna Carman (Woolwich, N.J./Kingsway) was stopped by Mulka.
- Penn State Harrisburg held an 11-3 shot advantage and took six corner kicks to Goucher's three.
- Spacht made four saves for the Gophers, while Mulka recorded three stops.
- The Nittany Lions won their third straight game.
- Goucher returns to Landmark Conference action Saturday, traveling to Elizabethtown for a 4 pm contest.
- The Gophers return home Tuesday, October 28, hosting Lancaster Bible at 7 pm at Beldon Field.
