Chargers Make First Half Goal Stand Up Against Gophers

TOWSON, Md. - Visiting Lancaster Bible made a goal scored with 14 minutes remaining in the second half stand up as it downed Goucher College 1-0 in non-conference women's soccer Tuesday evening at Beldon Field.
- Goucher (7-6-3) had the game's first shot as Taylor Urie (Simi Valley, Calif./Simi Valley) sent a shot wide.
- LBC (9-7) had a shot blocked just over 11 minutes into the game.
- Off of a corner kick in the 18th minute Arianna Carman (Woolwich, N.J./Kingsway) put a shot on frame that was saved by Charger keeper Erin Mikula.
- Mikula made saves on deep shots by Taty Jimenez (Modesto, Calif./Enochs) in the 22nd and 28th minutes.
- Gopher keeper Marissa Spacht (Marlton, Pa./Garden Spot) made her first save of the game just shy of the game's 30-minute mark.
- With just under 14 minutes remaining, Spacht saved an initial Lancaster Bible shot by Kendal Rearn, but Megan Rogers was able to put home the rebound to give the guests a 1-0 lead.
- Cassidy Scott (Quakertown, Pa./William Penn Charter School) pushed a header off a corner high with 2:29 to go.
- Mikula made her first save of the second half 11 minutes in on a bid by Jordan Wood (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point).
- Urie sent a shot high following a corner in the 59th minute.
- Carly Stevens (Hampstead, Md./Hereford) put two shots on goal that were saved by Mikula in the 66th and 74th minutes.
- Goucher generated three corners in the final nine minutes of the game.
- Goucher outshot LBC 16-11 and had seven of the game's 11 corner kicks.
- Mikula made six saves en route to the shutout, while Spacht turned aside a pair of shots.
- Stevens led Goucher with four shots, while Urie and Jimenez finished with three apiece.
- Goucher wraps up the regular season on Saturday, hosting Moravian in a 4 pm Landmark Conference match at Beldon Field.
