TOWSON, Md. - Senior Carly Stevens scored just over five minutes into the second half as the Goucher College women's soccer team forged a 1-1 tie with Marymount (Va.) University Wednesday evening at Beldon Field.
- Marymount (0-2-1) had the game's first shot in the 10th minute that was stopped by Goucher (0-0-2) goalie Marissa Spacht.
- At the 13:36 mark, MU's Leila Lajdel worked free and got a shot past Spacht to give the Saints a 1-0 lead.
- Spacht made another save in the 26th minute.
- Stevens put a shot on goal in the 38th minute that was turned aside by Marymount keeper Layne Kaufman.
- Following a foul outside the box to the left of the Marymount goal, Stevens scored her second goal of the season as she bent a shot that went off the far right post and in to tie the game.
- Stevens had another shot blocked in the 58th minute, before a second effort was saved by Kaufman.
- Just over a minute later, a bid by Marymount's Allina Mbuko was saved by Gopher relief keeper Madison Gutierrez.
- With just under five minutes to go a shot by Tatyana Jimenez was saved by Kaufman.
- The Saints had a pair of shots late but both sailed wide.
- Goucher edged Marymount 10-9 in shots and took five corner kicks to the Saints' two.
- Kaufman made three saves for Marymount. Spacht made two saves in the first half before giving way to Gutierrez, who made one stop.
- Stevens had seven of Goucher's nine shots.
- Goucher is unbeaten in its last five contest against Marymount (3-0-2).
- Goucher entertains Immaculata for Senior Day on Saturday, September 9 at 1 pm. The Gophers will honor eight seniors prior to the contest.
