RADNOR, Pa. - Sophomore Cassidy Scott's goal with 17:30 remaining, the first of her collegiate career, broke a 1-1 tie and lifted the Goucher College women's soccer team to a 2-1 non-conference victory at Cabrini University at Edith Robb Dixon Field on Saturday afternoon.
- Goucher (2-0-3) took a 1-0 lead in the 17th minute on Alaina Porter's third goal of the season.
- Jordan Wood played a ball to Taylor Urie, who one-timed a pass over to Porter. Porter took a touch and with Cabrini (1-3-1) keeper Caroline Hassall charging out, Porter put it past her to put the Gophers in front.
- Just over two minutes later a shot by the Cavaliers' Mia Dills was saved by Goucher goalie Madison Gutierrez.
- Dills scored in the 28th minute to tie the game 1-1.
- Porter had a shot with 11 minutes left in the half that was saved by Hassall.
- Carly Stevens had Goucher's final shot on goal of the first half with three minutes to go.
- Tatyana Jimenez's bid five minutes in was saved by Hassall.
- Scott scored with 17:30 left on an assist from Nora Neall.
- Neall played a ball from the right endline to Scott at the top of the 8. Scott one-timed it past Hassall.
- Neall had the only shot by the two teams the rest of the way in the 76th minute.
- Goucher outshot Cabrini 12-7 and held a 5-3 lead in corner kicks.
- Gutierrez made a pair of saves, while Hassall was credited with five stops.
- Neall's assist is the first point of her collegiate career.
- Goucher is one of two unbeaten teams in the Landmark Conference along with Scranton.
- The Gophers are unbeaten through the first five games of the season for the second straight season.
- Saturday's matchup is potentially the last meeting with Cabrini as the institution is closing after 2023-24.
- Goucher returns to action Wednesday, traveling to Alvernia Wednesday evening for a 7 pm contest.
