Gophers Blank Neumann, Remain Unbeaten at Home

TOWSON, Md. - A penalty kick by Tatyana Jimenez with just under 15 minutes to go in the first half proved to be the difference as Goucher College edged Neumann University 1-0 in non-conference women's soccer Tuesday night at Beldon Field.
- The first shot of the game came in the 20th minute as Goucher's (3-1-4) Carly Stevens sent a shot wide.
- Just over a minute later, Reagan Hunt pushed a header wide off a corner kick.
- Midway through the half a Stevens shot was saved by Neumann (2-4-1) goalie Alexis Navarro.
- Just past the 30-minute mark, the Gophers were awarded a penalty kick, which Jimenez buried for her third goal of the season.
- Navarro turned aside a shot by Nora Neall two minutes into the second half, and under a minute later saved a header by Hunt.
- A Jimenez bid in the 52nd minute was also saved by Navarro.
- Goucher goalie Madison Gutierrez made her first save of the game with 22:28 remaining.
- Ambrea Gaither had a shot stopped by Navarro with 14 minutes to go.
- Madison Ybarra sent a shot just over the left corner of the goal with five minutes left.
- A shot by Jordan Wood into an empty goal was knocked away by a Knight defender with 2:25 left.
- Goucher took all seven shots in the first half and outshot the Knights 20-1, while taking all five of the game's corner kicks.
- Gutierrez stopped one shot en route to her second shutout of the season, while Navarro made six saves.
- Stevens led Goucher with six shots, while Jimenez took four.
- Jimenez also had the game-winner in a 1-0 win at Neumann last season.
- Goucher remained unbeaten at home this season (2-0-2) and is unbeaten in five straight at Beldon Field dating back to last season.
- The Gophers improved to 5-0-1 all-time against Neumann and has won four straight in the series with three straight shutouts.
- Goucher returns to Landmark Conference play Saturday, hosting Juniata at 3:30 pm at Beldon Field.
