TOWSON, Md. — By winning two of the three doubles matches and prevailing four times during the singles competition, Goucher was able to register its first victory of the 2009-10 season over a Landmark Conference opponent today. The Gophers defeated Catholic, 6-3.

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Freshman Meaghan Lee (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) became the first Goucher player to win 10 matches in singles play this season, but her victory at No. 3 was the only one the Gophers managed today in a Landmark Conference match against Moravian. The Greyhounds prevailed 8-1.

LANCASTER, Pa. – Even though Goucher came into today's match against Lancaster Bible with an unbeaten record, head coach Sally Baum's squad had yet to sweep the three doubles matches and then take all six singles matches from an opponent yet this season. In fact, the last two times out, the Gophers settled for 8-1 wins over Waynesburg and Hood because they could only prevail in two of the three doubles matches.

FREDERICK, Md. – Even before Carly Heinz (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) completed her comeback from being a set down to win at No. 1 singles today, Goucher had already clinched a victory over Hood. But the senior's 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-6) triumph over Jillian Elkaim enabled the undefeated Gophers to pull off their second sweep in singles play so far in 2009-10.
