Gophers Move to 4-0 in Landmark, Down Catholic 8-1

TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College women's tennis team moved to 4-0 in Landmark Conference play for just the third time in program history on Wednesday as it downed Catholic University 8-1 at the Schroedl Tennis Center.
- Ceri McCaffrey (Ardsley, N.Y./Ardsley) and Eliza Abady (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y./The Masters School) rallied from a 6-3 deficit at No. 2 doubles to post an 8-6 win and clinch a sweep for Goucher (6-8, 4-0 Landmark)
- Anais Dhillon (Cambridge, England/Hills Road Sixth Form College) and Gigi Bellisario (Elmer, N.J./Woodstown) prevailed 8-3 at No. 1.
- Alex DiGiovanni (York, Pa./Dover) and Sara Healy (Waterford, Va./Woodgrove) were 8-2 victors at No. 3.
- Abady earned the first singles point for the Gophers over Catholic (6-9, 1-3) with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 4.
- DiGiovanni clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-0 triumph at No. 5.
- Bellisario and Dhillon each went to a third pro-set. Bellisario prevailed at No. 3 6-3, 4-6, 10-7.
- Dhillon dropped a 3-6, 7-5, 10-8 decision.
- McCaffery was victorious at No. 2 by a 7-5, 6-0 count.
- Healy needed a second-set tiebreak and closed out the match with a 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) win at No. 6.
- Goucher is 11-1 in Landmark Conference doubles play this season.
- The Gophers improved to 4-0 in Landmark play for just the third time in program history (2010-11, 2012-13).
- Goucher has officially won four in a row and won five straight including Sunday's win over Harford Community College.
- McCaffrey improved to 4-0 in the Landmark in singles play, while Abady, Bellisario and DiGiovanni are each 3-1.
- The doubles tandems of Bellisario and Dhillon and DiGiovanni and Healy are 3-0 in conference competition.
- Goucher is back in action Saturday when it travels to Susquehanna for a 1 pm Landmark Conference match.
- The Gophers are back home next Wednesday, April 20, when they host McDaniel in a 3:30 pm match at the Schroedl Tennis Center.
