Gophers See Win Streak End in Battle for Landmark Top Spot

MADISON, N.J. - The Goucher College women's tennis team saw its five-match win streak snapped in a battle of the two remaining unbeaten teams in the Landmark Conference, as it fell to Drew University 6-3 on Saturday at the Drew Tennis Complex.
- Goucher (7-9, 4-1 Landmark) picked up a point at No. 2 doubles as Ceri McCaffrey (Ardsley, N.Y./Ardsley) and Eliza Abady (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y./The Masters School) rallied for an 8-7 (7-5) win.
- McCaffrey and Abady trailed 6-3 in their match before rallying to force the tiebreaker and pick up the win.
- Drew (9-8, 6-1) led 2-1 after doubles.
- At No. 1, Anais Dhillon (Cambridge, England/Hills Road Sixth Form College) and Gigi Bellisario (Elmer, N.J./Woodstown) dropped an 8-5 decision.
- Alex DiGiovanni (York, Pa./Dover) and Sara Healy (Waterford, Va./Woodgrove) fell 8-4 at No. 3.
- Dhillon used a tiebreaker in her win at No. 1, posting a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 triumph.
- Abady picked up Goucher's other point with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 4.
- DiGiovanni fell 7-5, 6-3 at No. 5.
- Abady and McCaffrey rallied in doubles for the second straight conference match. The pair trailed 6-3 against Catholic on April 13 before recording an 8-6 win.
- Abady and McCaffrey recorded their third straight doubles win, while Abady won her third straight in singles.
- Drew locked up the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Landmark Conference Championship with the victory.
- Goucher heads to Scranton for a 1 pm Landmark Conference match on Sunday.
