Gophers Clinch No. 2 Seed in Landmark Conference Championship

SCRANTON, Pa. - The Goucher College women's tennis team clinched the No 2 seed in the upcoming Landmark Conference Championship with a 6-3 triumph at Scranton on Sunday, bouncing back from the Gophers' first conference setback of the season at Drew on Saturday.
- Goucher (8-9, 5-1 Landmark) dropped two of three tight doubles matches to the host Royals (8-6, 2-2).
- At No. 3, Alex DiGiovanni (York, Pa./Dover) and Sara Healy (Waterford, Va./Woodgrove) took down an 8-6 decision.
- Anais Dhillon (Cambridge, England/Hills Road Sixth Form College) and Gigi Bellisario (Elmer, N.J./Woodstown) fell 8-6 at No. 1.
- Ceri McCaffrey (Ardsley, N.Y./Ardsley) and Eliza Abady (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y./The Masters School) lost 8-5 at No. 2.
- Dhillon took down a 6-0, 6-0 win at first singles to tie the match.
- After Scranton retook the lead at second singles, Abady won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 and Bellisario prevailed 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 to give Goucher the lead.
- DiGiovanni clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 3.
- Healy recorded a 6-0, 3-6, 14-12 win at No. 6 to add an exclamation point to the victory.
- Healy trailed early in the super tiebreak and won after forging a 9-9 tie.
- Goucher clinched the No. 2 seed in the Landmark Conference Championship and will host a semifinal on Tuesday, May 3.
- DiGiovanni and Healy are now 11-3 in doubles and have won six straight
- Abady won her fifth straight singles match.
- DiGiovanni had the clinching point for the Gophers for the fourth time this season.
- Goucher wraps up the regular season on Saturday, traveling to Susquehanna for a 1 pm Landmark Conference matchup.
