Gophers Sweep Huntingdon to Open Spring Break

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Goucher College women's tennis team swept Huntingdon College 9-0 to open its spring break trip at the USTA National Campus on Tuesday morning.
- Goucher (4-3) swept doubles over Huntingdon (3-3), including two close matches.
- At No. 1, Natalia Navarro (Francisco Morazan, Honduras / Del Campo School) and Eliza Abady (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y./The Masters School) prevailed in an 8-7 (7-2) win.
- Sarai Oquendo Silveira (Houston, Texas / Harmony School of Discovery) and Aaliyah Ybarra (Bastrop, Texas / Cedar Creek) posted an 8-5 win at No. 2.
- Navarro earned Goucher's first singles point with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles.
- Jessica Townes (Wilmington, Del./Concord) clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-1 triumph at No. 3.
- Ceri McCaffrey (Ardsley, N.Y. / Ardsley) won 7-6 (7-1), 6-1 at No. 2, while Shelby Meek (Halethorpe, Md. / Catonsville) won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 4.
- Emma Harding (San Francisco, Calif. / Mission) took down her opponent 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5.
- Harding won her first match in her Goucher debut.
- The win snapped a two-match slide for the Gophers.
- Goucher faces Luther on Wednesday evening at 7 pm at the USTA National Campus.
- The Gophers' home opener is set for April 1 against Drew.
