Gophers Earn Second Straight at Etown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - The Goucher College women's tennis team earned its second straight victory Tuesday afternoon, registering a 7-2 victory at Elizabethtown College at Alumni Courts.
- Goucher (6-5, 2-1 Landmark) swept the Blue Jays (5-2, 2-2) in doubles.
- Natalia Navarro (Francisco Morazan, Honduras / Del Campo School) and Eliza Abady (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y./The Masters School) registered an 8-4 win at No. 1.
- Also winning by an 8-4 score were Ceri McCaffrey (Ardsley, N.Y./Ardsley) and Jessica Townes (Wilmington, Del./Concord) at No. 2.
- Sarai Oquendo Silveira (Houston, Texas/Harmony School of Discovery) and Shelby Meek (Halethorpe, Md./Catonsville) posted an 8-5 triumph at No. 3.
- Scranton (6-6, 2-1) earned their lone doubles point at No. 1.
- The Gophers took wins in each of the top four flights in singles action.
- Townes was a 6-1, 6-1 winner at No. 3.
- McCaffrey clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 2.
- Navarro toppled her opponent 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1.
- Silveira rallied and prevailed in a third-set tiebreak, winning 3-6, 6-0, 13-11.
- Meek and Silveira upped their doubles record to 6-2.
- Navarro registered her team-best seventh singles win of the season.
- The Gophers won their second straight against the Blue Jays.
- Goucher heads to Harford Community College on Thursday for a 3 pm non-conference match.
- The Gophers are back home Saturday, April 8, hosting Drew at 1 pm.
