TOWSON, Md. - Drew University remained unbeaten in Landmark Conference play with a 7-2 women's tennis victory over Goucher College Saturday afternoon at the Schroedl Tennis Center.
- Drew (10-2, 5-0 Landmark) swept doubles to stake itself to a 3-0 lead over Goucher (6-6, 2-2 Landmark).
- Jessica Townes (Wilmington, Del./Concord) and Ceri McCaffrey (Ardsley, N.Y./Ardsley) forced a tiebreaker at No. 2 doubles before falling 8-7 (7-2).
- At No. 3 Sarai Oquendo Silveira (Houston, Texas / Harmony School of Discovery) and Shelby Meek (Halethorpe, Md./Catonsville) battled before dropping an 8-6 decision.
- Silveira made quick work of her opponent at No. 6, posting a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
- McCaffrey won at No. 2, holding off her opponent 6-2, 1-6, 7-6 (7-0) for a three-set win.
- Eliza Abady (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y./The Masters School) won her first set at No. 4 before falling 2-6, 7-6 (7-5), 10-5.
- Silveira and McCaffrey have each won three straight singles matches.
- Drew has won 12 straight conference matches dating back to the beginning of last season.
- Goucher travels to McDaniel on Wednesday for a 4 pm non-conference match.
- The Gophers are back home for a doubleheader at the Schroedel Tennis Center next Saturday, April 15. Goucher takes on Susquehanna in Landmark action at 1, followed by a non-conference match against Stevenson.
