BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Second-seeded Moravian University blanked No. 3 seed Goucher College 5-0 in the semifinals of the 2023 Landmark Conference Women's Tennis Championship Wednesday afternoon played indoors at Moravian's Breidegam Fieldhouse. The Greyhounds advance to Saturday's final against top-seeded Drew.
- The Greyhounds (18-3) swept doubles from the Gophers (10-7).
- At No. 3, Shelby Meek (Halethorpe, Md./Catonsville) and Sarai Oquendo Silveira (Houston, Texas / Harmony School of Discovery) fell in a tiebreak 8-7 (9-7).
- Ceri McCaffrey (Ardsley, N.Y./Ardsley) and Jessica Townes (Wilmington, Del./Concord) battled before succumbing 8-6 at No. 2.
- Moravian clinched advancement with wins at No. 3 and No. 4 singles.
- McCaffrey and Natalia Navarro (Francisco Morazan, Honduras / Del Campo School) were in the third set of their matches when play was stopped.
- Navarro won the first set at No. 1 6-2, dropped the second set 4-6 and was down 5-4 in the third.
- At No. 2 McCaffrey was ahead 6-5 in the third after winning the first 6-3 and dropping the second 6-4.
- Goucher, which was making its second straight semifinals appearance and third in four seasons, saw a four-match win streak snapped.
- Goucher's 10 victories are its most since finishing 10-10 in the 2018-19 season.
