Gophers Picked Third in Landmark Women's Tennis Poll
TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College women's tennis team was voted third in the Landmark Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll released Friday afternoon. Defending conference champion Drew University collected eight of the 10 first place votes and was chosen to repeat with 80 points, while Moravian University racked up 67 points and one first place vote. The Gophers earned the other first place vote and finished with 66 points.
University of Scranton (59) and Catholic University (51) round out the top five.
Goucher finished 10-7 overall and 5-2 in Landmark play a season ago and made its second straight trip to the Landmark Conference tournament and third in four seasons.
The Gophers return a pair of Landmark All-Conference selections from 2023. Natalia Navarro was also a Second Team selection in singles and doubles, while Eliza Abady earned Second Team doubles honors with Navarro.
Goucher opens the spring portion of its schedule on Wednesday, February 28 when it hosts Kutztown and St. Mary's (Md.). The Gophers open spring Landmark play on Saturday, March 23 at Wilkes.
