FREDERICK, Md. – Goucher defeated Trinity (D.C.), 3-0, and Hood, 3-0, today to get to .500 for the first time during the 2008 campaign.
The Gophers recorded their highest team attack percentage and also their most service aces of the season in their 25-8, 25-9, 25-7 triumph over Trinity. They executed 25 kills and committed only six attack errors while registering a .328 attack percentage. Their previous high this season was .295 against Lancaster Bible.
Of Goucher's 24 aces against the Tigers (1-9), Catie Ditmore (Santa Barbara, Calif./Laguna Blanca) served six and Rebecca Schaefer (River Edge, N.J./River Dell), Kasey Quinn (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) and Alex Lee (Santa Fe, N.M./Scarsdale) all had five.
Carolyn Crissey (Philadephia, Pa./Creative & Performing Arts) supplied the Gophers (10-10) with eight kills and a .462 attack percentage in their 25-19, 25-15, 25-15 victory over Hood. Claire Sauvage-Mar (New Delhi, India/American Embassy School) was credited with 26 assists against the Blazers, giving her a total of 46 for the two matches.
Including today's two wins, head coach Michael Bossom's Gophers have gone 9-3 since starting out the season 1-7.
