Bulldogs, Seahawks Take Out Gophers in Four Sets

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — Goucher prevailed in two battles, but the wars were won by DeSales and St. Mary's (Md.) today as the Bulldogs and Seahawks both earned 3-1 victories over head coach Michael Bossom's Gophers.
Against DeSales, the Gophers forced a fourth set by prevailing in the third set, but the Bulldogs (6-3) regrouped to complete a 25-12, 25-18, 22-25, 25-14 win. Senior opposite hitter Kasey Quinn (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) led Goucher in kills with 12 and senior setter Claire Sauvage-Mar (New Delhi, India/American Embassy School) added 30 assists and 10 digs.
The Gophers (2-6) came out strong in the second match of the day, but after winning the first set, dropped the next three as the Seahawks (5-4) came out on top 21-25, 25-10, 25-18, 25-19.
Quinn finished with nine kills and a team-high total of 23 digs against St. Mary's. Sauvage-Mar recorded 32 assists.
Freshman defensive specialist Victoria Rain (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) was credited with 34 digs in the two matches.
