ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. — Goucher's two opponents on the final day of the regular season came into today's tri-match having already 49 matches. Both were able to add to that total by taking down head coach Michael Bossom's Gophers in three sets.
First up for the Gophers was Elizabethtown and the Blue Jays (22-8) prevailed 25-8, 25-15, 25-15. A match against Frostburg St. followed and the Bobcats (29-3) were victorious 25-14, 25-10, 25-15.
The Blue Jays achieved a .337 attack percentage in their three-set match against the Gophers even though not a single Elizabethtown player reached double figures in kills. Freshman outside hitter Megan Chalk (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) was Goucher's leader with nine kills.
Goucher's attack percentage, which was .062 against the Blue Jays, rose to .110 in the second match of the day. Senior opposite hitter Kasey Quinn (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) was credited with a team-high 11 kills in the three-set battle the Gophers (7-21) waged against Frostburg St.
Senior setter Claire Sauvage-Mar (New Delhi, India/American Embassy School), who ranks second all-time in assists in the history of Goucher's volleyball program, finished with 38 in the two matches, hiking her career total to 2,886.
