The Gophers (5-12, 0-3 Landmark), who will now need to win at least one match at the second set of conference matches (Oct. 15-16) in order to qualify for the Landmark Conference postseason tournament, opened with the Crusaders on Saturday and were handed a 25-13, 25-12, 19-25, 25-13 defeat.
The Cardinals and Greyhounds both pinned 3-0 setbacks on head coach Michael Bossom's squad today. In the 25-14, 25-15, 25-23 loss to Catholic, junior libero Ashley Fan (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) broke the school record for most digs in a three-set match as she supplied the Gophers with 33.
Claudia Jean led the Cardinals (14-2, 2-1 Landmark) with 11 kills.
Taylor Jennings finished with 10 kills and Kelly Brown with 28 assists for Moravian as the Greyhounds (13-9, 1-2 Landmark) downed the Gophers 25-22, 25-8, 25-12.
Susquehanna's Emily Carson registered 14 kills and a .378 attack percentage in Saturday's match. Two of her kills gave the Crusaders (4-12, 1-0 Landmark) their decisive 25th points in the first two sets.
The Gophers, who at one point trailed 10-4 in the third set, went ahead to stay on a kill by Sabina Smajlovic (Hartford, Conn./Miss Porter's School) that snapped a 17-17 tie. The 25th point came on a kill by Addie Lanzarotta (Los Angeles, Calif./Culver City).
Goucher was up 3-2 in the fourth set before Susquehanna went on a run of eight consecutive points.
Megan Chalk (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) and Trish Kallis (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) delivered 16 and 12 kills, respectively, while Tori Rain (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) compiled 34 assists, her second-highest total in a match so far this season.
