DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – In an even match featuring long rallies and narrow winning margins in each set, Goucher came up just short tonight against Delaware Valley.
Set scores were 25-23, 25-22, 25-21 in favor of the Aggies.
The Gophers (0-5) were up 22-21 in the first set before ceding four of the next five points, three of which coming on kills from Gina Page.
The Aggies (4-0) rushed out to a seven-point lead in the second set only to have head coach Michael Bossom's squad rally to pull within one at 23-22. Kills by Janel Gluch provided the home team with the final two points it needed to assume a 2-0 lead in the match.
For Goucher, three players had double-digit totals in digs, led by a 15-dig effort from Tori Rain (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial).
Megan Chalk (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) had a match-high 13 kills, while Sarah Johnson (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) supplied 23 assists for the visiting squad.
