Loss Keeps Gophers from Winning Fourth Match in Five Days
WASHINGTON, D.C. — In order to win a fourth match in a span of five days, Goucher was going to have to defeat an opponent tonight that it hasn't conquered since 1997.
The Gophers (3-7) gave it a shot, but a .109 attack percentage wasn't enough to get it done against Gallaudet as the Bison prevailed 3-0. Set scores were 25-15, 25-16, 25-23.
By comparison, Gallaudet completed the three-set match with a .412 attack percentage. Kali Frowick finished with 15 kills; Ann Whited and Jessica Israel added 11 and 10 kills, respectively.
Sarah Tubert supplied the Bison (7-2) with 41 assists.
Goucher didn't have a single player with more than seven kills. Ashley Fan (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) registered a match-high 14 digs.
Since they defeated Gallaudet, 3-1 (4-15, 15-12, 15-12, 15-10), back on Oct. 14, 1997, the Gophers have dropped 16 consecutive matches against the Bison.
