TOWSON, Md. – After rallying on two separate occasions to take the opening set, Goucher was unable to continue its momentum, falling 25-23, 18-25, 20-25, 23-25 to Delaware Valley from the Decker Sports & Recreation Center tonight.
Megan Chalk (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park) set a new season-high with 19 kills to lead the Gophers (6-6). She also added 10 digs, finishing with double-digit kills and attacks for a fourth-consecutive match. Corinne Kahler (York, Pa./York Country Day) followed with eight kills and 12 digs, tying a season-high in both categories, while Tori Rain (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) led Goucher with 19 digs.
The Gophers trailed 6-1 after the first seven points of the contest before rattling off eight of the next nine points to take a 9-7 lead. The Aggies (5-4) would recover to grab a 21-16 advantage, but Goucher rallied once again, with an ace from Rain giving the Gophers the set.
Delaware Valley took the second set in decisive fashion. The third set was significantly tighter, with the Aggies holding a slim 21-20 lead before scoring the final four points to take a 2-1 advantage. The fourth set was even closer, with no team ever leading by more than two points, but a kill from Gina Page ended the match for the Aggies. Page led Delaware Valley with 15 kills overall.

The Gophers return to action with a rematch against McDaniel at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The Green Terror came away with a three-set victory when the teams met in Westminster last weekend.
