Goucher Tops Wesley 3-0

DOVER, De. - The Goucher College Volleyball program (4-12, Landmark 0-2) defeated Wesley College 3-0 Wednesday evening.
Greta Coss (Bowie, Md.) had a big night with 12 kills and a .400 hitting percentage. Sarah Weeden (Monmouth Junction, N.J.) took charge of the backcourt with 15 digs. Olivia Rhodes (St. Charles, Mo.) led the way in service points.
Set 1: 25-22
Emily Sorrell (Annapolis, Md.) went on a service run for four points during points 10-6. Rhodes served 3 in a row to pull the Gophers ahead 24-19. Coss had four kills and Weeden added two kills, five digs, and an ace.
Set 2: 25-20
Rhodes went on a five-point service run from 7-8 to 10-8 and then again from 20-17 to 22-18.
Bianca Brown (North Brunswick, N.J.) had 4 kills and Weeden had four kills and ace to close out the set.
Set 3: 25-23
Blocking from the Gophers improved throughout the set. Weeden had a big block at 2-0 and Coss at 15-15, both proving to be big momentum shifts. Simone Brown (Pelham, N.J.) tallied three kills.
"We won the serve and pass game," Said Kozak. "Our first contacts gave our offense one on one opportunities which translated to kills."
The Gophers travel to Washington, D.C. to play against Landmark Conference opponents Catholic and Juniata on Saturday, October 14th.
