Women's Volleyball Triumphs in Straight Sets Win over Rosemont
The Goucher women's volleyball team bounces back after a rough weekend to take the win over Rosemont at home, 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-7).
Leading the attack was senior Kaya Melchor (Mililani, HI/Kamehameha Schools Kapalama), who notched 12 points on the day. Nicole Blount (Fayetteville, GA/Fayette County), Nicole Kovach (New York, NY/Quest to Learn), and Elizabeth Bobo (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley) each added 5 points to the win.
It was the day of the ace at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center; the team collected 20 total aces in the match. Melchor once again demanded the charge with 7 aces, followed by Bobo (4), Kovach (3), and Alex Coffin (Plymouth, MA/Plymouth North) (3).
The defense was once again commanded by Neli La Court Ruiz (York, PA/Northeastern), grabbing 8 digs, with Melchor (7), Coffin (6), and Rachel Chapman (Rochester, NY/Churchville Chili) (5) close behind.
With the women back in the win column, their record moves to 2-2 on the season so far.
The team begins a 2-week stretch of away matches, beginning with a tri-match at Penn State Berks on Saturday. Match times are 1PM and 3PM.
