SCRANTON, Pa. - The Goucher College women's volleyball team dropped a pair of Landmark College matches at Scranton's John Long Center Saturday afternoon. The Gophers fell 3-0 to Elizabethtown in the opener, then were topped by the host Royals 3-0.
- Set scores were 25-18, 25-13, 25-17.
- The first set was tied 10-10 before Etown (10-3, 1-0 Landmark) reeled off five straight points to take a 15-10 lead.
- Goucher (4-10, 0-2) was led by Rachel Chapman's (Rochester, N.Y. / Churchville Chili) five kills.
- Neli La Court Ruiz (York, Pa. / Northeastern) posted a team-high 10 digs, while Nicole Kovach (New York, N.Y. / Quest to Learn) handed out 16 assists.
- Eden Adcock (Stratford, N.J. / Sterling Regional) added seven digs and four kills.
- The Blue Jays hit .200 as a team, while holding the Gophers to .043 hitting.
- Set scores were 25-14, 25-15, 25-12.
- Scranton (17-2, 2-0) took control of the first set with eight straight points to build a 13-4 lead.
- The second set was tied 9-9 before the Royals rattled off 10 straight points.
- Chapman posted seven kills, with Adcock and Elizabeth Bobo (Milford, Pa. / Delaware Valley) adding four apiece.
- Ruiz posted 15 digs.
- Kovach recorded 16 assists.
- Scranton hit .227 while the Gophers hit .044.
- Ruiz reached double figures in digs for the sixth straight match and for the 12th time in 14 matches.
- Goucher returns to Landmark Conference action Wednesday, traveling to Catholic for a 7 pm match.
- The Gophers open a three-match homestand next Friday, October 8, hosting Gwynedd Mercy in a 7 pm contest at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
