No. 9 Juniata Powers Past Gophers

HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Ninth-ranked Juniata College powered past Goucher College for a 3-0 Landmark Conference women's volleyball sweep Wednesday night at Memorial Gymnasium. Set scores were 25-6, 25-6, 25-10.
- Juniata (24-1, 5-0 Landmark) had the first four points of the match.
- Goucher (5-17, 0-5) stayed close in the early going, with a Neli La Court Ruiz (York, Pa. / Northeastern) service ace making it 6-3.
- Amel Lightfoot (Columbia, Md. / Oakland Mills) and Kaya Melchor (Mililani, Hawaii / Kamehameha Schools Kapalama) also had kills in the early going.
- The Eagles scored 10 of the next 11 points and never looked back.
- Juniata scored 11 straight points to go up 18-3 before an attack error ended the run.
- Edan Adcock (Stratford, N.J. / Sterling Regional) and Elizabeth Bobo (Milford, Pa. / Delaware Valley) had kills for the Gophers in the set.
- The set was tied 2-2 early after kills by Adcock and Rachel Chapman (Rochester, N.Y. / Churchville Chili).
- The Eagles scored six straight points to go up 8-2.
- Up 13-7, Juniata salted the match away with six straight points to go up 20-7.
- Juniata extended its win streak to 23 matches.
- Ruiz led the Gophers defensively with 14 digs.
- Bobo had four kills for Goucher, while Nicole Kovach (New York, N.Y. / Quest to Learn) tallied 11 assists.
- Goucher closes out its season Saturday with a pair of Landmark Conference matches at Drew.
