Gophers Ease Past Trinity Washington

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Goucher College women's volleyball team posted its second straight win Thursday evening, easing past Trinity Washington University 3-0 Thursday evening at Tigers Arena. Set scores were 25-3, 25-11, 25-6.
- Goucher (3-9) opened the match with seven straight points.
- After the Tigers (0-7) scored the next two points, the Gophers reeled off 10 straight points to put the set away.
- Leading 10-3, Emily Lynch (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) fired off three straight service aces to make it 13-3.
- The Gophers had the six of the final seven points of the set and a Lucy Hendricks (Fort Bragg, Calif./Fort Bragg) kill ended the set.
- Goucher had the first seven points of the third set which included four service aces by Kailee Turner (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville).
- Another Hendricks kill closed out the set.
- Goucher racked up 29 service aces, with Lynch finishing with 10.
- The Gophers hit a program record .615 on the night, with 29 kills and just five errors. Rachel Chapman (Rochester, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) led the guests with nine kills.
- Turner and Hendricks each hit .750 and registered six kills.
- Riley Kocell (Waxhaw, N.C. / Cuthbertson) posted 16 assists, while Turner added nine.
- Kocell added seven aces, with Nicole Kovach (New York, N.Y./Quest to Learn) recording six.
- Goucher travels to Widener for a tri-match on Saturday. The Gophers take on Neumann at 1 and the host Pride at 3 pm.
- The Gophers return home next Saturday, October 1, when they host Moravian at 11 am and Scranton at 6:30 pm as part of a Landmark Conference quad-match at the Decker SRC.
