CHESTER, Pa. - The Goucher College women's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at a trimatch hosted by Widener University Saturday afternoon at the Schwartz Center. The Gophers fell 3-1 to Neumann University then dropped a 3-0 decision to the host Pride.
- Set scores were 22-25, 25-16, 25-9, 25-18.
- In the first set Goucher (3-11) led 20-19 when it reeled off three straight points capped by a Rianne Nickerson (Corning, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post) service ace.
- A kill by Kailee Turner (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) closed out the set.
- In the fourth set Goucher trailed 14-13 when Neumann (4-10) reeled off five straight points.
- Lucy Hendricks (Fort Bragg, Calif./Fort Bragg) led Goucher with seven kills on .250 hitting.
- Turner added five kills.
- Riley Kocell (Waxhaw, N.C. / Cuthbertson) handed out 12 assists while Nicole Kovach (New York, N.Y./Quest to Learn) added 13 digs.
- Set scores were 25-8, 25-14, 25-17.
- Hendricks again paced Goucher in kills with seven. She added four block assists.
- Kovach and Necole Stravino (Quezon City, Philippines / Nandua (Va,)) each had a team-high eight digs.
- Elizabeth Bobo (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) had a pair of service aces.
- Goucher travels to Gallaudet Wednesday evening for a 7 pm match.
- The Gophers return home next Saturday, October 1, when they host Moravian at 11 am and Scranton at 6:30 pm as part of a Landmark Conference quad-match at the Decker SRC.
