TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College women's volleyball team registered a 3-1 non-conference victory against Penn State York Friday evening at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center. Set scores were 25-22, 22-25, 25-22, 25-23.
- Goucher (4-16) fell in an early 8-2 hole.
- Penn State York (15-5) led 15-9 following a Gopher attack error.
- Goucher rallied to tie the set 17-17 on a service ace by Riley Kocell (Waxhaw, N.C./Cuthbertson), but the Nittany Lions responded with three straight points to take a 20-17 lead.
- The Gophers countered with four straight points and took a 21-20 lead on a Necole Stravino (Quezon City, Phillipines/Nandua) service aces.
- With the set tied 22-22, the Gophers scored the final three points and a Elizabeth Bobo (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) kill closed out the set.
- Goucher again found itself down 8-2, but used an 8-2 run to tie the set 10-10 on a Kailee Turner (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) kill.
- The hosts took a 13-12 lead on a block by Amel Lightfoot (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills) and Lucy Hendricks (Fort Bragg, Calif./Fort Bragg).
- The lead changed hands three more times, with a Hendricks kill making it 22-21.
- Penn State York responded with the final four points of the set to tie the match.
- After six ties early, Penn State York scored four straight points to eke out a 13-9 lead.
- Goucher used a 5-1 run to tie the set 14-14 on a block by Hendricks and Lightfoot.
- With the set tied 18-18, a 4-1 Penn State York run gave it a 22-19 lead.
- The Gophers closed out the set with six straight points, with Bobo recording three service aces in the run, including the final two points.
- The Nittany Lions led 13-9 when Goucher scored five straight points capped by an Olivia DeBiasio (Norristown, Pa./Norristown) block to go up 14-13.
- Goucher built up a 22-19 lead following a kill by Turner.
- After another Turner kill made it 24-21, Penn State York staved off two match points and forced Goucher to call a timeout.
- A DeBiasio kill closed out the match.
- Goucher snapped Penn State York's four-match winning streak and stopped a seven-match slide of its own.
- Turner hit .333 for the match and finished with a career-best 19 kills, 15 assists, three service aces and eight digs. It marked her fourth double-digit kill total of the season.
- Hendricks matcher her career high with 12 kills and also had four block assists.
- Bobo and DeBiasio each added seven kills, with Bobo adding four aces and three block assists.
- Kocell handed out 26 assists.
- Kovach recorded 20 digs and six service aces, leading the Gophers' 19 on the evening.
- Goucher's 19 aces were its second-highest total of the season.
- The Gophers hit .214 for the match and held Penn State York to .168 hitting.
- The match featured 33 ties and 15 lead changes.
