Gophers Drop Landmark Match to Catholic

TOWSON, Md. - Visiting Catholic University posted a 3-0 sweep of Goucher College in Landmark Conference women's volleyball Wednesday evening at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center. Set scores were 25-6, 25-18, 25-18.
- Catholic (13-13, 2-2 Landmark) scored the first eight points of the match.
- A kill by Goucher's (4-18, 0-4) Eden Adcock (Stratford, N.J./Sterling Regional) halted the run.
- Up 12-4 the Cardinals scored five straight points.
- The Cardinals raced out to a 9-4 lead in the second set.
- The Gophers responded with seven straight points capped by kills by four different players to go up 11-9.
- After the guests fought back to tie the set 14-14, Goucher scored three straight points and a Kailee Turner (Virginia Beach, Va./Kempsville) kill put the Gophers up 17-14.
- Following a timeout Catholic scored five straight points and closed the set with the last six points of the frame.
- Catholic scored the first four points before an Elizabeth Bobo (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) kill.
- Up 8-5, the Cardinals scored four straight to build a 12-5 lead.
- Down 17-11, Goucher scored four straight points and a block by Amel Lightfoot (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills) cut the lead to 17-15.
- The visitors closed the set on an 8-3 run.
- Turner and Lucy Hendricks (Fort Bragg, Calif./Fort Bragg) led Goucher with six kills, while Bobo had five.
- Turner finished with 13 assists, while Riley Kocell (Waxhaw, N.C./Cuthbertson) had nine.
- Nicole Kovach (New York, N.Y./Quest to Learn) racked up 15 digs, with Kocell adding seven.
- Goucher closes out the home portion of its schedule Saturday, hosting Roanoke at 11 am and Rutgers-Camden at 3 pm in a tri-match at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
- The Gophers will honor their senior class prior to the Rutgers-Camden match.
