Gophers Set to Compete at Landmark Championship Friday
TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete at the 2023 Landmark Conference Cross Country Championships on Friday, October 27 at Sunset Golf Course in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania and hosted by Juniata College. The 8K men's race is set for a 11 am start, with the 6K women's race beginning at noon.
The Gopher women are led by sophomore Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw, who has finished first twice in a race this season, the most recent at Goucher's Coach Caslin Classic on October 6. She posted a 6K time of 24:18.24. Daya Sathyaraj also posted a top-10 finish in the event as she placed ninth overall.
Goucher's men's team will be competing at the Landmark Championships for the first time since 2019. Jair Smith posted a ninth place finish at the Coach Caslin Classic with an 8K time of 30:12.13. Sean Whitfield is the lone senior on either Goucher cross country team and finished 11th three weeks ago.
After Friday's Landmark Championship, Goucher hosts the ECAC Championship on Friday, November 3.
