Men's Basketball Falls Just Short at Juniata

HUNTINGDON, PA -- The Gophers (5-19, Landmark 2-11) fell to Juniata College, 58-51, on the road despite shooting perfect from the foul line (10-of-10) in the game.

Senior Chris Outing continued his hot streak, tying a career-high 25 points and eight rebounds in the loss. The veteran forward also dished out four assists while accumulating three steals and one block. Freshman Keon Butler nabbed 10 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals for the Gophers.

The Eagles were led by junior Marcus Lee with 24 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore Paul Martello dished out a team-high five assists to accompany five points. Junior Damon Rickens came in off the bench to score 10 points.

How It Happened:

• Goucher maintained the lead for nearly the entire first half of the game, trailing only six minutes.
• As the half came to a close, the Gophers sat on top, 31-29.
• Goucher shot 39.3% (11-of-28) in the first half and was propelled by Outing with 19 points – 15 of which came from 3-point range.
• Early in the second half, Juniata rattled off a 12-2 run to earn a lead, 46-37, with 12:15 to go in the game.
• The Gophers battled back to a 56-52 deficit with 1:15 to go, but were unable to put together any scoring opportunities and the Eagles nailed two more free throws with six seconds left to seal the game, 58-52.
• Goucher shot 30.5% (18-of-59) over the course of the game while Juniata posted 45.5% (25-of-55) shooting.
• The Gophers held an advantage in rebounds (38-36) and second-chance points (12-8).

"I thought we played well on the defensive end, but we struggled to score and didn't capitalize on some opportunities in the second half, which was the difference in the game"

The Gophers travel to the University of Scranton this Saturday for their final game of the 2016-17 season. In their last matchup, Goucher downed the Royals in Towson 81-73, marking the first time in program history.
