Goucher Men's Basketball Falls To Moravian
TOWSON, Md. – Goucher College lost to. Moravian College in Landmark Conference men's basketball action on Monday.
Cameron Isaacs (Owings Mills, Md./Randallstown) paced the Gophers with 14 points. The freshman went 6-for-10 shooting from the floor and 1 of 2 from the both 3-point land and the charity stripe to finish with his second-best scoring output of the season. Isaacs, who had a career-high 18 points at Muhlenberg College on November 17, also had 14 points at Elizabethtown College on January 9. It marks the eighth time he has reached double figures and fifth time in his last 10 contests. Isaacs is averaging 9.1 points per game on the year.
Steven Quintero (Coral Springs, Fla./Coral Glades) added 10 points off the bench. Quintero notched his best scoring effort since scoring 12 points in his collegiate debut against Valley Forge on November 8. He has scored at least seven points in a game four times this season. His four rebounds on Monday also matched his personal best also set in the season opener.
The Greyhound jumped out to a 7-0 lead before Goucher used a 6-2 spurt to trim the margin to 9-6. Uvan Stewart (Frederick, Md./St. Maria Goretti), Quintero and Pat Goralski (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) each had a basket in the run. Isaacs made the front end of two free throws with 13:48 left to make it a three-point game again at 13:48.
Moravian then went on an 18-6 run to take a 30-15 advantage with 6:42 on the clock. Fueled by eight points by Quintero, the Gophers answered with a 13-6 run to cut the margin to 36-28 at the under four media timeout. The Greyhounds closed the half by scoring 16 of the final 23 points to go into the locker room with a 52-33 lead.
Moravian outscored Goucher 37-28 in the second half to earn the 89-61 victory.
Goralski finished with seven points and six rebounds while Dwayne Morton (Waynesville, Mo./Waynesville) added nine points off the bench in the loss.
Goucher returns to action at home at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center against Catholic University of America on Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
