Diplomats Pull Away from Gophers in Second Half

LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall College led by one at halftime and pulled away for a 76-57 non-conference men's basketball victory over Goucher College at the Mayser Center Tuesday evening.
- The Diplomats (4-2) built a 7-2 lead five minutes into the game.
- Goucher (1-5) scored the next six points and a Can Dalli free throw put the Gophers in front 8-7 at the 11:43 mark.
- The Gophers outscored F&M 18-8 over a seven minute stretch and a Jon Perry basket with 4:02 left before halftime put Goucher in front 26-18.
- Franklin & Marshall outscored its guests 13-4 the rest of the half and took a 31-30 lead into intermission.
- An early 7-0 Diplomat run put the hosts in front 41-32 four minutes into the second half.
- After a Jayden Saunders basket, F&M used an 8-0 spurt to go up 49-34 with 12:20 remaining.
- Goucher cut the lead to 12 twice, the second on a Saunders basket with 11:07 on the clock, but the Dips extended the lead to 63-40 with just under eight minutes to go.
- Perry finished with a career-high 14 points, making all four of his field goal attempts, including a pair of threes, and going 4-5 at the free throw line.
- Dalli notched nine points, making both of his three-point attempts.
- Jacob Morgan totaled seven points and six assists, while Darrell Green added six points.
- Goucher shot 39% overall, was 5-16 from three and 14-20 at the free throw line.
- F&M, which held a 42-38 rebound advantage, shot 39% and 9-17 at the charity stripe, but 13-32 behind the arc.
- The Diplomats forced 21 Goucher turnovers, which it turned into 19 points.
- Goucher wraps up its five-game road stretch Monday, traveling to Ursinus for a 7:30 contest.
- The Gophers are home Wednesday, December 4, hosting Moravian in Landmark Conference play at 7 pm at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
