Kelly Enters NJCAA Men's Lacrosse Hall of Fame

ROSEDALE, Md. — Brian Kelly, who just completed his third season as Goucher College's head men's lacrosse coach, was inducted into the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association's Hall of Fame tonight.

Kelly earned NJCAA All-America honors while playing at Community College of Baltimore Essex and was a key performer on CCBC Essex's first NJCAA national championship team in 1991. From there, he went on to play at the NCAA Division I level at Johns Hopkins University, where he was named an honorable mention All-American midfielder by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association in 1993 and was the recipient of the Turnbull-Reynolds Awards, given to a student-athlete who displays outstanding character and leadership.

The organization's ninth Hall of Fame class numbered 10 people.

"The quality of this class is a testament to what a huge contribution the NJCAA has been making to the lacrosse world for years," said Bob Leary, chair of the NJCAA Men's Lacrosse Hall of Fame selection committee. "That this class produced such a talented, well rounded, diverse group speaks volumes."

Kelly, who was formerly an assistant coach for the Washington Bayhawks of Major League Lacrosse, said, "I am truly grateful for this honor of being inducted into the NJCAA Lacrosse Hall of Fame, especially to be inducted at the same time as friends Kip Fulks, who also attended CCBC Essex (and is now chief operating officer of Under Armour), and Kyle Hartzell, who was a member of the 2004 national championship team, along with my coach at CCBC Essex, Tim Puls."

Tonight's induction ceremony was part of the NJCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship weekend.
