Gophers Topped on the Road at Etown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - Elizabethtown College jumped out to a 9-2 halftime lead and went on to post a 13-4 Landmark Conference men's lacrosse victory over Goucher College Saturday afternoon at Wolf Field.

• The Blue Jays (3-4, 1-0 Landmark) scored just 14 seconds into the game and built a 3-0 lead 3:16 into the contest.
• Elizabethtown scored again at 4:20 and with 31 seconds left in the period to take a 5-0 lead through 15 minutes.
• Goucher (6-3, 0-1) goalie Jack Smith had three saves in the opening period.

• Etown extended its lead to 6-0 11:12 before halftime.
• Jacob Morgan got the Gophers on the board with back-to-back goals at 8:42 and 5:25.
• Theo Cook IV assisted on the first goal, while the second goal was unassisted.
• The Blue Jays scored three times in the final 4:25 to take a 9-2 lead into the break.

• After the hosts scored the first goal of the third, Jack McDermott recorded a man-up goal at the 11:02 mark, with Holden Vance assisting.
• Etown led 11-3 through three quarters.

• Etown scored with 10:20 remaining in the contest.
• Cook scored with 8:29 left off of a feed from Morgan.
• Finn Kristan closed out the scoring for the Blue Jays with 3:13 left.

• Elizabethtown outshot Goucher 54-21 and won 17 of the game's 21 faceoffs.
• Smith made 15 saves in goal for the Gophers in the first 56:47, while Jaden Algarin made two saves in the final 3:13.
• Cole Smith had a pair of caused turnovers for the Gophers, while five players picked up two ground balls apiece.
• Goucher finished 1-3 on its man-up opportunities, while the Blue Jays did not convert their lone extra man chance.
• Morgan extended his goal scoring streak dating back to last season to 15 games.
• McDermott and Cook have each scored in the last six games for the Gophers.
• Elizabethtown was the favorite in the Landmark Conference preseason coaches' poll.

• Goucher returns home on Thursday, March 28 when it hosts defending Landmark Conference champion Scranton in a 7 pm contest at Beldon Field.
