Goucher Edges Out McDaniel on the Road

WESTMINSTER, Md. - The traveling Goucher College Gophers (2-0 Overall) traveled to face the Green Terror of McDaniel College (1-2) in a regional matchup. The Gophers used a strong denfensive effort in the fourth quarter to secure the 9-7 win.

• McDaniel opened the scoring in the first quarter with four unanswered goals in the first seven minutes of the contest.
• Despite the early lead, Jack Smith added eight saves in the first quarter. 

• Gianni Karam put the Gophers on the scoreboard just a minute and a half into the quarter off an asisst from Jacob Morgan. 
• Karam and Morgan teamed up again four minutes later to add another for Goucher.
• Jason Fritz from McDaniel scores an unassisted goal to add to the Green Terror's lead (6:33).
• Milan Temple responded just a minute later, to bring th Gophers within two, as Morgan adds another assist in the contest.
• With 2:01 left on the clock Tyler May adds his first of the season to the board off an unassisted goal. 
• Before the horn sounded for halftime, Temple and Morgan work to tie the game 5-5 (0:14). 

• McDaniel began the scoring for the half with a an assisted goal with 9:31 on the clock.
• Karam scored his eighth on the season with an assist from Temple to tie the game again (7:16).
• The game was scoreless until the final minute of the quarter, when the Green Terror added a goal to reclaim the lead (0:46), until Karam added his fourth of the game to tie it again.

• May out the Gophers ahead for the first time in the game, off an unassisted goal just under two minutes into the quarter.
• Morgan added his first of the game to add a buffer for the Gophers three minutes later.
• Smith recorded three saves in the final quarter to assist the Gophers to the lead. 

• McDaniel outshot Goucher 45-32, and won 13-21 faceoffs for the Gophers. 
• Karam led the Gophers with four goals off his seven shots and collected one ground ball.
• Morgan led with a total of six points in the game (1g, 5a).
• Nick Pusey recorded five ground balls, leading the Gophers, while DJ Barnes and David Vucci each recorded four ground balls each.
• Nick Gambone caused two turnovers, the most for Goucher. 
• Smith recorded 18 saves on the contest
