Flying Dutchmen Hold Off Gophers on Beldon

TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College Gophers (2-2 Overall) rallied with four unanswered goals after being down 8-2 to cut the deficit. The Flying Dutchmen of Lebanon Valley College (2-2 Overall) were able to hold Goucher off in order to secure the 10-8 non-conference win.
- The Flying Dutchmen opened the scoring with three goals in the first quarter. Keenan tallied two of those.
- Jacob Morgan scored the first goal for the Gophers in the contest with just over a minute remaining in the quarter.
- The Gophers were held scoreless in the second quarter, but the Gophers forced six turnovers.
- Jack Smith recorded five saves in the quarter.
- Lebanon Valley opened the scoring a minute and a half into the quarter to extend their lead, but Morgan responded 45 seconds later with a goal from a Nick Pusey assist.
- The Flying Dutchmen added two more on the board before Morgan answered once again on an unassisted goal (8:09).
- Gianni Karam gave the Gophers another goal just 30 seconds later, off a Milan Temple assist.
- The Gophers scored the final goal of the quarter, with Sean Nolan adding one to the board from a Morgan pass (1:11).
- Karam opened the scoring just over eight miutes into the final quarter from Pusey.
- Lebanon Valley responded with two goals to build their lead back to four with 3:39 to play.
- Karam added two goals for the Gophers in the in the final two minutes, one coming unassisted and the other from Morgan.
- Morgan led the team in points with three goals and two assists, totaling five points in the contest.
- Karam had the most goals for the Gophers after scoring four.
- Jack Schiavone led the team with three caused turnovers, closely followed by Nolan who added two.
- Smith recorded 18 saces in the game, collecting five in the second and fourth quarter.
- Lebanon Valley won 12-20 faceoffs, while Goucher won eight. David Vucci won seven of these, while Schiavone earned the final one for the Gophers.
- The team travels to face Neumann at 4pm on Wednesday, March 5th.
- The men return home on Tuesday, March 11th to face New England College at 7pm on Beldon Field.
