Dominant First Quarter Leads Gophers to Road Victory Over Neumann

ASTON, Pa. - The Goucher College Gophers (3-2 Overall) traveled to face the Neumann University Knights (2-3 Overall). A strong first quarter, combined with a strong defensive effort to hold off the Knights in a 17-11 non-conference win.
- The Gophers opened the scoring less than two minutes into the game, with goal from Tyler May following an assist from Milan Temple.
- Neumann responded a minute later, to tie the game, tallying their only goal from the first quarter.
- Kevin Gearhart added two in the first quarter, his first unassisted (9:33), and his second off a Temple assist (6:52).
- On the man up opportunity, Scott Tayman punched one past the goalie from a Jacob Morgan assist.
- May added two additional unassisted goals, giving him three total in the opening quarter.
- Morgan added the only other goal of the first quarter, on the man advantage (2:21).
- Gianni Karam opened the scoring of the second quarter with a goal with 10:54 on the clock, with Jack Schiavone collecting the assist.
- Two and a half minutes later, Temple added another goal, putting the Gophers up eight.
- Neumann responded with two goals of their own. The first came on the man up opportunity.

- May and Temple each had seven points in the contest. May led the Gophers with six goals and one assist, while Temple added three goals and four assists.
- Jack Smith collected 9 saves, in 50:53, while Josh Steinmiller added 9:07 to his career time, and recorded nine saves.
- Nick Gambone led the team with four caused turnovers, he also scooped up three ground balls. Both Sean Nolan and Smith led the Gophers with four groundballs a piece.
