WESTMINSTER, Md. - Goucher had not encountered overtime this season until today's game against McDaniel. Unfortunately, the one-goal setback the Green Terror inflicted on the Gophers is something head coach Gary Dunda's players have had to deal with more than they would like.
An unassisted goal by Donald Dokas 7:13 into overtime provided McDaniel with a 2-1 victory and dealt the Gophers their third one-goal loss of the season.
Following a scoreless first half, the Gophers (3-4) grabbed a 1-0 lead on a goal by Nat Keller (Evanston, IL/Evanston Twp.) just over two minutes into the second half. The freshman midfielder became the 13th player on Goucher's roster to score a goal so far in 2007.
At 66:37, the Green Terror (6-1-1) drew even on a goal by Paul Seegren.
An offsides call against the Gophers wiped out what conceivably would have been a game-winning goal by Keller with approximately 2:00 remaining in regulation.
In overtime, the Green Terror got off two shots. The first one was turned away by sophomore goalkeeper Justin Holbrook (Claymont, DE/Wilmington Friends School), who faced a total of 12 shots and made four saves.
