Senior midfielder Drew Phillips (Hoosick Falls, N.Y./Hoosick Falls Central School) of the men's soccer team was honored for his work in the classroom by the United Soccer Coaches, as Phillips was named to the NCAA Division III Men's Scholar All-South Region First Team.
Phillips, who was named to the All-Landmark Conference Second Team last month, has accumulated a 3.64 grade point average as a Political Science and Economics major at Goucher. He was one of just 24 selected to the Scholar All-South Region Team and one of just 12 honorees on the First Team. Phillips was also the lone representative of the Landmark Conference on any of the Scholar All-Region Teams.
On the pitch in 2017, Phillips scored two goals and added two assists to finish off an accomplished career for the Gophers. With his selection to the All-Landmark Conference team, Phillips became the second Goucher men's soccer player since the Gophers joined the Landmark Conference at its advent in 2007 to be named to the All-Landmark team twice, as Phillips nabbed the honor (as a defender) after the 2016 season.
In all, Phillips started 63 of the 67 matches he played in at Goucher. Off the field, Phillips was named to the Landmark Conference's Academic Honor Roll three straight seasons, as well.
