TOWSON, Md. - Eight different Goucher College men's soccer players scored goals on the evening, as the host Gophers rolled past visiting Gwynedd Mercy, 8-1, on Tuesday night at Beldon Field.
The seven-goal victory, which was the biggest for the Goucher men's soccer program since a 7-0 win over Lancaster Bible on Oct. 22, 2007, improved the Gophers' record to 1-7-1 overall. Gwynedd Mercy fell to 0-9 with the defeat.
In the victory, junior Brandon Cohen (Redondo Beach, Calif.) led the team with 3 assists and scored one goal of his own, his fifth of the season.
Senior Dalen Thompson (Maplewood, N.J.) racked up 7 shots, made one assist, and scored his first goal of the year. First-year students Drew List (Towson, Md.), Zachary LaFaver (Hanover, Pa.), Matthew Sanders (Hampstead, Md.), Tate Rusby-Wood (Arlington, Va.), and Jack Tchantchuing-Ngoko (Silver Spring, Md.) all scored their first career goals with the Gophers.
Gwynedd Mercy goalkeepers made a combined 6 saves throughout the match, and freshman Mike Kerkering scored the lone goal for the Griffins.
The Gophers will be back in action on Saturday, September 29th as they travel to take on Scranton in a Landmark Conference match-up. Kick-off is set for 1 p.m.
