Two Early Goals Sink Gophers in Conference Opener

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Lycoming College scored twice in the game's first 11 minutes as it downed Goucher College 2-0 in Landmark Conference men's soccer Saturday afternoon at UPMC Field.  The game marked the conference opener for both schools.

• Lycoming (4-2-3, 1-0 Landmark) scored just 5:36 into the game when Obiazie Chinatu scored, with assists credited to Christian Woobay and Dylan Sloan.
• The Warriors took a 2-0 lead in the 11th minute as Jaeden Asare scored with Woobay adding another assist.
• Goucher (5-2-1, 0-1) got its first shot of the game in the 18th minute as a Rafael Berhanu shot was saved by Nick Wilke.
• A shot by Owen Magee for Lycoming was stopped by a Goucher defender with 15 minutes to go in the half.

• Will Frasier had a shot turned aside by Wilke six minutes into the second half.
• Ale Sternini made his first save of the game for the Gophers in the 67th minute.
• Frasier rang a shot off the left post with 16 minutes remaining.
• Jeremiah Odubade had his low shot turned aside by Wilke moments later.

• Both teams recorded eight shots in the game, with the hosts generating an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks.
• Wilke notched three saves en route to the shutout, while Sternini turned aside one shot.
• Frasier led the Gophers with three shots.
• Goucher and Lycoming were meeting for the first time, as the Warriors are in their inaugural season in the Landmark Conference.

• Goucher is back in action next Saturday, hosting Juniata for a 1 pm Landmark Conference matchup at Beldon Field.
