De Carvalho's Two Goals Push Gophers Past Immaculata

TOWSON, Md. - Goucher College men's soccer first year forward Aquila De Carvalho scored twice and junior goalkeeper Ale Sternini made a pair of saves for his fourth straight shutout as the Gophers blanked Immaculata University 4-0 Saturday afternoon at Beldon Field. The Gophers won their second in a row and remain unbeaten on the season at 4-0-2.
- De Carvalho put a shot on goal for Goucher just 3:29 into the game that was stopped by IU (2-3) keeper Ryan Straub.
- The Gophers were offsides three times in the game's early moments, including once that waived off an apparent goal.
- In the 14th minute, Domenic Arena slipped a ball to De Carvalho, who beat Straub from five yards out for his third goal of the season.
- With just under 20 minutes to go, Immaculata was whistled for a foul in the box, awarding the Gophers a penalty shot.
- Will Frasier's attempt was stopped by Straub, but he was able to put in the rebound to make it 2-0.
- In the 32nd minute, Goucher keeper Sternini made a sliding save on a shot by Cooper McKinney.
- The Gophers put three more shots on goal but Straub made three saves.
- De Carvalho scored his second goal of the game 10 minutes into the second half, taking a feed from the left from Michael Adekanmbi and scoring from eight yards out.

- First year Anthony Ketelsen scored his second goal in as many games in the 69th minute, converting a pass from the right side from Elliot Bezdek.
