Bryn Athyn Slips Past Gophers

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - Host Bryn Athyn College rallied past Goucher College for an 11-9 non-conference women's lacrosse triumph Tuesday afternoon at General Ronald K. Nelson Field.
- Bryn Athyn (10-2) scored the game's first three goals in a span of just under three minutes to take a 3-0 lead with 5:58 left in the first quarter.
- Goucher (3-13) got on the board with just over three minutes left on a Makayla Batts goal.
- Camden West converted a free position goal late to make it 3-2 after 15 minutes.
- West scored again 2:27 into the second quarter to tie the game 3-3.
- Molly Smith put Goucher in front with 10:02 left before halftime.
- The Lions scored 1:14 before intermission and the two teams went into the break tied 4-4.
- Goucher reeled off five straight goals to go up 9-4 with 1:13 left in the third.
- Emily Burk scored on a feed from Bailey Schneeman 31 seconds into the second half.
- Just 47 seconds later, Katherine Luetgens made it 6-4, with Burk assisting.
- Tatiana Emeruwa scored at the midway point of the period, while West notched her third goal with 3:13 on the clock. Smith assisted.
- Burk put the Gophers in front 9-4 with 1:40 left.
- Bryn Athyn scored twice in the final 1:13 to pull within 9-6.
- Shea Gormley had four of the Lions' five goals in the fourth as the hosts surged ahead.
- Gormley scored the equalizer with a man advantage with 6:17 left, then another goal with 3:39 left to put Bryn Athyn in front 10-9.
- Goucher won the ensuing draw, but turned it over, and Gormley scored again with 1:53 to go.
- Bryn Athyn outshot Goucher 35-25 on the day.
- Sydney Lewis had 14 saves in goal for Goucher, while Lion counterpart Chloe Munyon had 11 saves.
- West's three goals matched her career high, while Burk finished with a pair of scores.
- DJ Howell and Lucy Covington each finished with three caused turnovers.
- Luetgens registered eight draw controls, while Smith picked up a team-high three ground balls.
- Goucher closes out the season Saturday when it travels to Lycoming for a 12 pm Landmark Conference contest.
